Bring the plans and let's walk the lot together. We review the drawings, look at the site and prepare a written scope and estimate before any work starts.
I don't have plans yet, just a lot and a lot of ideas. Can you still help?
You'll need plans before building, and we can talk through your ideas and the lot in the meantime. Once the plans are ready, we write the scope and estimate from them.
How involved am I gonna be in picking finishes for a new home?
As involved as you like. Countertops, floor finishes, millwork and hardware are your choices, and we help you understand what each one means for the build.
I'm worried about the foundation being done right on our lot. Who handles that?
Foundation and concrete work is part of our custom home projects. We look at the lot during the site walk, and the foundation follows your approved drawings.
Can a custom home be framed with metal studs, or is it all wood?
Both timber and metal stud framing are part of our work. Your plans and engineering decide which one goes where.
We're building our forever home. How do we keep track of what's happening during the build?
You have one point of contact at Ben-Rick from the first talk to the final walkthrough. Questions about progress, scope or finishes go to the same person.
Will my new house need a permit from the county?
New homes typically need a permit from the local building department. We can talk about what that involves, and the building department can tell you its specific requirements.
What's included in the written estimate for a custom home?
The scope lays out the work from foundation through framing, plumbing, electrical, drywall, millwork and finishes. You can go through it line by line and ask about anything before work starts.
Our plans might change a bit once we see the framing up. Is that a problem?
Changes happen. If you want to adjust something, we talk through what it affects and update the scope in writing before that work moves ahead.
